Catherine Marquis, M.S., Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM), L.Ac., NCTMB, CMT
Catherine is licensed to practice acupuncture by the Virginia Board of Medicine. She earned a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the nationally accredited, four-year program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine where training included over 3,500 hours of extensive study in acupuncture, herbology, and Eastern nutrition. As an intern, she saw a wide variety of patients, functioning as a primary, independent health care practitioner for some. She gained further clinical experience working at Project Vida, an HIV/AIDS clinic in Chicago, IL. Catherine is a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine, a board certification by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in the practice of both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. She has experience in treating pain conditions of the knee and low back, neck and shoulder, as well as headaches, insomnia, stress, weight management, smoking cessation, stroke and MS, and gynecological and digestive disorders.
Also a licensed massage therapist, Catherine discovered the benefits of regular massage while training for her first full marathon and has since completed eleven, including an ultra, all injury-free! She is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork. In addition to certification in prenatal massage, she has studied Tui Na and Thai massage. Her experience includes rehabilitative therapeutic massage, assisting in prevention, care, and rehabilitation of orthopedic, sports, work, and occupational injuries.
